NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Charleston Southern men's basketball picked up its first win on the road this season, topping Tennessee State 91-87 after a 50-point output in the first half. The Bucs' win at the Gentry Center marks the first time a visiting team has left with a win in six different tries this season.
FIRST HALF SHOWING
Charleston Southern had its biggest out put in a half this season, finding the half-century mark in the first 20:00 of play. The Bucs shot over 59% from the field in the stanza, including over 50% from three. The glass went the way of the Bucs as well, 20-10, with an impressive 15-6 on the defensive glass. Charleston Southern also led for all but :43 ticks in the half as well, being paced by 33 bench points.Â
FIVE IN DOUBLE FIGURES
Charleston Southern scored a season-high 91 points tonight, getting double figures from five different players.
Claudell Harris Jr. led the way for the Bucs, scoring 23 points on 7-12 shooting from the field.
Taje' Kelly added 15 including three big ones down the stretch and
Cheikh Faye was right behind with 14 of his own.
Tahlik Chavez and
Emorie Knox each added 11 as well in the strong offensive output.

WINNING BY COMMITTEE
Emorie Knox had his biggest game of the year as the point guard has had to pick up huge minutes with
RJ Johnson missing time due to injury, answering the call tonight with 11 points and two dimes in 23 minutes on the floor. Knox had a huge assist to Kelly in the closing minutes as well as a tough finish around the rim to put the contest away for CSU.

SOLID FROM THE STRIPE
The Bucs saw 24 attempts from the charity stripe, converting a season-high 21 of those for a solid 87.5%. Kailb Clinton (2-2), Harris Jr. (5-5), Chavez (3-3) and
Reginald Duhart Jr. (2-2) all turned-in perfect lines from the free throw line, marking the second time this season at least four Bucs were perfect from the line in a contest.

IT TAKES A UNIT
Charleston Southern turned in an impressive effort off the bench as well tonight, outscoring Tennessee State's supporters 33-17. The bench has been a big part of the output on both ends all year for the Buccaneers as eight of the 10 players who saw minutes played at least 10 minutes, led by
Tyeree Bryan's 37.
UP NEXT
The Bucs complete the second and last leg of the two-game road trip as they head to Jacksonville to take on the Dolphins, Saturday, December 17, in a return trip from a season ago. The action is slated for a 4:00 p.m. tip inside Swisher Gymnasium.
