Lowcountry Clash Comes Down to Final Possession in Sold Out Buc Dome

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern men's basketball saw a contest come down to the final possession for the second time in as many times out on the floor as the Buccaneers came up just short, falling 76-73 to The Citadel in front of a sold out Buc Dome.

THREE IN DOUBLE FIGURES
The trio of Claudell Harris Jr., Kalib Clinton and RJ Johnson each found double figures for Charleston Southern, led by Harris Jr.'s 19. Clinton had his biggest showing of his sophomore campaign, netting 18 points on 6-10 shooting from the field while drawing nine fouls along the way. Johnson shined as well on the offensive side of the ball, finishing with 13 points. 

GAME OF RUNS
Both sides saw high-output scoring runs in both halves, as Charleston Southern had the biggest lead of the game at 12 midways through the first stanza. The Citadel battled back to take an eight-point lead into the halftime break. The Buccaneers again started well in the second half, using just six minutes to knot things back up at 50. Clinton's layup with 4:06 to play in the final stanza put the Bucs up five, but the Bulldogs finished the game on an 11-3 run.
 
IT TAKES A UNIT
Charleston Southern turned in an impressive effort off the bench as well tonight, outscoring The Citadel's supporters 45-5. The bench has been a big part of the output on both ends all year for the Buccaneers, as nine of the 10 players who saw minutes played at least 10 minutes.
 
CRASHING THE BOARDS
The Buccaneers outrebounded The Citadel 35-31, including an 11-4 margin on the offensive glass. Tyeree Bryan led the way for Charleston Southern on the offensive boards, chasing down four to finish with nine total rebounds. Clinton added two offensive boards as well as Imajae Dodd, who finished with four points and five rebounds.

UP NEXT
The Bucs hit the road to The Sunshine State for their next affair, as the head to Tampa, Florida to take on the University of South Florida for the first time in program history. The action is slated for a 7:00 p.m. tip at the Yuengling Center.
