CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern closes its 10-game road trip this weekend when it heads to Longwood for a three-game Big South series. The Bucs and Lancers will meet for a single game on Saturday and a doubleheader Sunday morning after potential weather in the Farmville area altered the schedule.

Recapping Tuesday
Furman scored 10 of its 15 runs in the middle or late innings to sweep a doubleheader from the Bucs at Pepsi Stadium. The Paladins took the first game, 8-6, before rallying with a six-run sixth to win the nightcap, 7-4.

Ashley Meckley had four hits and four RBI's across the two games for the Bucs, including her team-leading 10th home run of the season.
Sarah Brown had two hits and three RBI's in the first game for CSU, while
Katelyn Norris also had a multi-hit game in the opener.

Holly Clark and
Baylee Eaton split the pitching duties in the first game, while
Alyssa Heinrich went 5.2 innings in the second game with
Annah Junge picking up the final out.

CSU was tied or ahead in both games, but allowed six extra-base hits in the two games, including a grand slam in the sixth inning of the second game.

The Bucs had eight stolen bases as a team, with
Brooklynn Brewington,
Katelyn Norris,
Sarah Brown and
Ashley Meckley swiping two bags apiece in the doubleheader.

Clark had four strikeouts in the first game for the Bucs, marking her third consecutive start with four or more strikeouts.

Recapping Last Weekend
The Bucs were swept for the first time since the opening weekend of Big South play when Campbell took all three games of a weekend series over the Bucs in Buies Creek.

CSU was limited to just three runs in the series, as Campbell swept the Saturday doubleheader by scorelines of 10-1 and 6-1, then won a pitchers' duel in the series finale on Sunday, 2-1.

Dominique Mannerino led the way for the Bucs at the plate with a pair of multi-hit games against the Camels, while
SeaEnna Satcher and
Brooklynn Brewington each had one two-hit game against Campbell. Brewington was the only Buc with a hit in all three games of the series, while Mannerino recorded the lone RBI of the weekend for CSU.

Holly Clark and
Annah Junge each threw complete games against the Camels, with Clark allowing just two runs in 6.0 innings of work in Sunday's series finale. Junge tossed a career-high 125 pitches in the middle game of the series and tied her season high of three strikeouts in the process.

Season Leaders
Brewington is the Bucs' leader among its regular starters in batting average at .346 and hits with 36. Meckley leads the team with six doubles, 10 homers, 17 extra-base hits and 20 runs batted in while drawing a team-high 19 walks. 17 of Meckley's 28 hits have gone for extra bases and she also leads the team with a .423 on-base percentage.

In the circle, Clark leads the Bucs in ERA at 4.58, strikeouts with 36 and complete games with three. Junge has tossed a team-leading 59.2 innings in the circle for the Bucs.
Baylee Eaton has walked a team-low 17 batters in 54.1 innings.

What to Watch For
Charleston Southern leads the Big South in stolen base percentage at 95.2 percent. The Bucs are 40-for-42 on stolen base attempts this season, with Brewington's 14 steals leading the way. CSU was 8-for-9 on stolen base attempts in Tuesday's doubleheader at Furman.

Junge and Clark threw complete games in each of the last two games of the Bucs' weekend series at Campbell. It marked the first time this season that Buccaneer pitchers threw complete games in back-to-back contests.

Despite losing each of their last five games, the Bucs have had a lead in four of those games. CSU had leads in both games of the midweek doubleheader at Furman and opened the scoring in the series opener and series finale at Campbell.

Of the 10 games on this road trip, eight will be played outside the state of South Carolina. Those eight games are CSU's only games outside the Palmetto State this season.

Charleston Southern has at least one stolen base in 13 of its 18 Big South games this season.
Brooklynn Brewington leads the Bucs with 14 stolen bases this year, while CSU has only been thrown out twice on the basepaths in 2021.

Scouting Longwood
Longwood enters the weekend at 21-23 overall and 10-5 in Big South play. The Lancers lost their last two games in a midweek doubleheader against James Madison, but have won each of their last two Big South series, taking two-of-three from both Radford and Presbyterian on the road.

Nia Green leads the Lancers at the plate with a .284 batting average. Longwood has no players with an avegage above .300. Lauren Taylor has a team-high seven homers, while Alexis Wayland leads the team with 29 RBI's. Sydney Jacobsen leads Longwood with 19 extra-base hits.

Longwood is aggressive on the basepaths, with 100 stolen bases as a team. Four different Lancers have 10 or more stolen bases this season.

In the circle, Sydney Backstrom is the ace of the Longwood pitching staff and leads the team with 16 wins, a 2.66 ERA and 152 strikeouts across 165.2 innings. Backstrom threw a perfect game last weekend against Presbyterian. Aside from Backstrom, no Lancer pitcher has thrown more than 43 innings this season, and each of Longwood's other four pitchers have an ERA greater than 5.50.

Longwood and Charleston Southern have played 33 times prior to this weekend's series. Most of those meetings have come since the Lancers joined the Big South prior to the 2013 season.
