CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern softball announced the hire of Reagan Miles to be an assistant coach for 2027 and will work with the Buccaneers' pitching staff. Miles will join the program after spending the past two years at the University of Illinois-Springfield.
 
"Reagan is going to be a very important addition to the Bucs staff, and I could not be more proud to announce her as our new Pitching Coach," said Head Coach Christi Musser. "She had much success at the University of Illinois-Springfield as a student athlete and immediately made an impact to the pitching staff at her alma mater as a coach. We have a very talented group of pitchers returning to us this season along with additions to the group in two transfers and a freshman. I believe Reagan is the perfect person to lead the Bucs Bullpen and cannot wait to see that reflected on the field this spring."
 
Miles arrives in the Lowcountry after a successful two-year stint working with her alma mater's pitching staff. In her time leading the group, they lowered their ERA from 3.75 in the season prior to her arrival to 3.09 in her first year and 2.79 in her second. Additionally, she coached 12 shutouts in 2025 and 13 in 2026 after the group posted just three prior to her joining the staff. She coached four student-athletes to earn All-Conference accolades to pair with multiple weekly awards from the conference, an NFCA Pitcher of the Week and program records to be broken.

Prior to working on the coaching staff at UIS, she played for the Prairie Stars, compiling 317 innings of work to go with 28 wins, 268 strikeouts and an ERA of 4.06. She was named the athletic department's Female Athlete of the Year in 2023 in addition to being named Second-Team All-Conference in her senior season. In that season, she helped lead them to their first NCAA Midwest Regional appearance since 2018 with them picking up a win over Hillsdale in the tournament. Miles served as a team captain, was named team MVP, selected as the Conference Pitcher of the Week three times and earned Academic All-Conference awards multiple times.
 
Prior to being on the staff at UIS, she worked as an assistant coach for Rochester Junior and Senior High School where she served as the pitching coach and helped lead them to an IHSA Regional Championship in 2024. Additionally, she worked at Tribe Baseball & Softball Academy as the Director of Softball/Pitching Instructor designing data-driven training programs for athletes from 7-18 to work on their velocity, control and movement.
  
She graduated from the University of Illinois - Springfield in 2023 with her Bachelor of Science in Criminology & Criminal Justice. In May of 2026, she completed her Master's Degree in Legal Studies. She is originally from Springfield, Illinois where she attended and graduated from Rochester High School. She was a two-time All-State, four-time Central State 8 All-Conference selection, two-time Conference Pitcher of the Year and a two-time All-Metro selection while at the school.
