Recapping Last Weekend
The Bucs went 1-2 over the weekend at Presbyterian, taking Sunday's series finale after dropping a pair of low-scoring games Saturday afternoon.
Annah Junge and
Baylee Eaton combined to throw a one-hit shutout in Sunday's 8-0 run-rule win, while eight different Bucs had at least one hit in the series finale.

Junge also tossed her first complete game of the season in Saturday's first game, allowing just one earned run in the contest.
SeaEnna Satcher had a pair of hits, including an RBI single, in the contest but Presbyterian pushed across runs in the fourth and sixth to take a 2-1 win. The Bucs managed just four hits in the second game, with an
Ashlyn Cribb sacrifice fly in the fifth accounting for the lone CSU run, as the Blue Hose completed the doubleheader sweep, 4-1.

CSU tied its season high with eight runs and 12 hits in the series finale, scoring in every inning.
Katelyn Norris tied a career high with three hits and reached base in each of her four plate appearances, while
Brooklynn Brewington and
Erika Cooper each had a pair of hits as well.
Rhiana Hubbard hit a pinch-hit RBI triple in the contest, while four different Bucs had at least one stolen base and seven different players knocked in a run.

Season Leaders
Brewington is the Bucs' leader among its regular starters in batting average at .400 and hits with 12. She also is on a career-best eight-game hit streak and has a stolen base in six consecutive games.
Ashley Meckley is hitting .313 with four doubles and four homers, leading the team in both extra-base hits (eight) and runs batted in (nine) while drawing a team-high 10 walks. Seven of the Bucs' nine regular starters are hitting above .250 this season.

In the circle, Junge leads the Bucs in ERA at 3.78 and innings pitched at 33.1. Junge also has a team-leading 17 strikeouts and has mathed her season high of three strikeouts on four different occasions.

What to Watch For
CSU has at least one stolen base in each of the last eight games, including a season-high four in Sunday's win over Presbyterian. The Bucs are a perfect 20-for-20 on stolen base attempts this season, with Brewington's seven steals leading the team.

The Bucs had two triples in the three-game series at Presbyterian after recording just one in their first 12 games of the season.

Sunday's run-rule win was the first time the Bucs won by run rule this season and was also the first shutout for CSU in 2021.

Junge has a 1.97 ERA in 21.1 innings against Big South opposition, while Eaton's ERA sits at 2.94 in conference play.

Scouting College of Charleston
College of Charleston enters the midweek matchup with a 3-17 overall record and an 0-3 mark in CAA play. The Cougars have lost each of their last seven games and are just 1-8 in true road games. In addition, the Cougars are 0-3 against Big South opposition this season, losing twice to Winthrop and once to Campbell.

Riley Miller leads the Cougars with six extra-base hits and seven runs batted in, while Jenna Helberg leads the team with a .345 batting average. As a team, College of Charleston is hitting just .215 with a .261 on-base percentage.

In the circle, Payton Lemire has a team-best 2.19 ERA in eight appearances (three starts) and 22.1 innings pitched. Kylie Burke leads the Cougars with 38 strikeouts in a team-high 47.1 innings pitched, and also sports a 2.96 ERA in 12 appearances (six starts). Six different pitchers have seen time in the circle for the Cougars this season.

Series Breakdown
This is Charleston Southern's first games against crosstown foe College of Charleston since the 2019 season. The Bucs and Cougars were supposed to play a pair of midweek games in 2020, one at each team's home venue, but the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the season before the two teams were scheduled to play.

Overall, College of Charleston has a 55-28 lead in the all-time series and a 21-13 lead in games played at the CSU Softball Field. The Cougars have won each of the last two games in the series, including the last game played at the CSU Softball Field between the teams.
