A series that was postponed two weeks prior, Charleston Southern hosts Longwood to Buccaneer Field House for a Thursday-Friday series in a head-to-head matchup that sits nearly-deadlocked.

After six-straight wins from the Buccaneers to claim a 6-5 lead, the Lancers swept last season's meetings to reclaim a 7-6 lead and grab their first win over Charleston Southern inside Willett Hall in the process.

That six-game streak by the Buccaneers bested Longwood's five-game stretch to start as the two only met once before the Lancers joined the Big South in the 2012-13 season.

Charleston Southern and Longwood have met three times in Big South postseason play - all coming between the 2015 and 2017 tournaments - despite the Lancers being full-time members of the league for just nine athletic years.

Last Time Out
  • In almost the exact same fashion as he did one season ago, Phlandrous Fleming Jr. delivered a game-winning dagger to lift Charleston Southern men's basketball over High Point Friday night, 69-68 in Big South action.
  • Fleming scored a game-high 29 points to pace the Buccaneers, none bigger than his game-winning three-point basket with under :03 to play.
  • Both teams traded runs throughout the night with High Point holding the largest lead early on before the Bucs responded with their own 14-0 run.
  • John-Michael Wright led the Panthers with 18 points while Bryant Randleman added 12 and Ahmil Flowers had 11, but Fleming's 29 along with 14 from Ja'Quavian Florence, 10 from Emorie Knox and 10 from Sean Price proved to be enough for the one-point win.
  • Fleming also had a season-high 12 rebounds on the night securing his fourth double-double and second in as many nights.
Scouting the Lancers
  • Defense has been the Lancers' calling card this season as they boast the Big South's No. 2 scoring defense behind only Radford. Longwood has held 12 opponents below 70 points in a game.
  • Juan Munoz leads a trio of Lancers in double figures on the season scoring 12.3 points a night and is by far-and-away the best three-point shooter on the roster. All-Freshman candidate Justin Hill paces the Lancers off the bench with 11.5 points while dishing out 73 assists. DeShaun Wade adds 11.2 points per contest as the trio all sit among the league's top-20 in scoring.
  • Depth has also been a major factor for head coach Griff Aldrich and the Lancers as 11 athletes have played in double-digit contests with 10 playing in 15 of their 23 games.
  • While they've enjoyed success, the Lancers have faced their issues with road games going just 1-10 away from Willett Hall and their lone win coming at Presbyterian in a 49-45 defensive slugfest.
Series History
  • Longwood took the first five meetings after Charleston Southern vacated three wins to the NCAA. Charleston Southern then answered with a six-game win streak including a 79-74 victory in the 2017 Big South Championships First Round from Buccaneer Field House.
  • Last year's sweep by the Lancers turned the series lead back in their favor as the finale marked their first win inside Willett Hall over the short-handed Buccaneers.
  • Most contests have been 40-minute battles, one even coming as a 2OT thriller from the Buc Dome in the 2015-16 season. Of the 13 previous meetings, eight have been decided by 10-or-fewer points.
A Series Win Would…
  • Give the Bucs a pair of Big South wins
  • Give CSU a three-game win streak
  • Swing the all-time series with Longwood back in the Bucs' favor
  • Give CSU their fourth and fifth wins at home in series history
