Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Buccaneer comeback falls just short Thursday to Longwood

CHARLESTON, S.C. – After a full month on the road across the state of North Carolina, Charleston Southern men's basketball fell in their first game back home 70-62 to Longwood Thursday in Big South action.

Both defenses dictated the pace through much of the night but Longwood (10-14, 9-9 Big South) used 36 free throw attempts to hold-off a Charleston Southern (2-17, 1-14 Big South) second half surge that saw the lead cut down to just 64-60 with 1:34 to play.

Phlandrous Fleming Jr., who entered then night third in the Big South in scoring and second in rebounding, secured his Big South-leading fifth double-double of the season and third in as many contests with 14 points and 12 rebounds to pace CSU.

Sean Price added 13 points off the bench while Melvin Edwards Jr. added 11 but Juan Munoz scored a game-high 17 for Longwood – 15 in the first half – and Nate Lliteras added 12 off the bench to power the visiting Lancers to the win.

Neither side shot above 38% on the night as the Bucs held the Lancers 0-fo-10 from deep in the second half and jut .269 from the floor but first half turnovers and 36 free throw attempts proved to be the biggest difference.
