FARMVILLE, Va. - Charleston Southern was unable to capitalize on
Alyssia Faye's career day on Saturday afternoon as the Buccaneers fell in the series finale at Longwood, 76-51.
Longwood (11-8, 10-4 Big South) jumped out to the double-digit lead early in the contest and led by as many as 19 in the first half as the Lancers limited the Bucs (6-14, 4-12 Big South) to 32.1% shooting over the opening 20 minutes. CSU rallied in the second half behind Faye's 22-points, but were unable to close the gap in the Big South loss.
Faye scored a career-high 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting to pace the Bucs and added eight rebounds in the CSU loss.
Sha'Mya Leigh added seven points, while
Anna Webster contributed a career-high eight rebounds in the contest to highlight CSU's efforts on the day.
Four Lancers scored double-digits in the contest led by Kyla McMakin and Allysah Boothe's 14-points apiece. Tra'dayja Smith added 12 points and eight assists,
while Akila Smith added a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double as Longwood completed the season sweep over the Bucs.
