CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern men's basketball score a season-high 119 points en route to topping Bob Jones Saturday evening at the Buc Dome in front of their home fans. The 119-63 score line presents the largest margin of victory (56) on the season for the Bucs as well as the largest since a 2019 victory over Piedmont International.
Â
The Charleston Southern offense was on full display early, as the home team kicked the game off on a 25-0 run spanning the first seven minutes of the game. A quick 9-0 run by Bob Jones would slow the Bucs down, but that would be about all the Bruins would have to offer.
Â
A Buskey jumper from the elbow pushed things to 63-24 with under a minute to play in the opening stanza, as that would stand as the largest lead for the Bucs in the first half. Bob Jones would run off the final three points of the half, making it a 63-27 ball game at the midway break.
Â
The Bucs spread the love all around in the first half, with
Deontaye Buskey and
Cheikh Faye standing as the only players in double-figures.
Kalib Clinton had eight,
Tahlik Chavez with seven, and
Sean Price had six to go along with five dimes and three boards.
Â
The second half would start with yet another Charleston Southern run, as the Buc offense took advantage of strong play on the defensive half to outscore the Bruins 14-5 and push things to a 55-point contest.
Â
It would be at the 7:30 mark in the second half that the Bucs would cross the century mark for the second time this season, as a
Ja'Quavian Florence trey made things 102-44.
Jamir Moore made the most of his minutes late in the game for CSU, knocking down treys in two straight possessions from the top of the key to push it to a gime-high 64 -point lead.
Â
The box score was filled with CSU production, with Buskey and Clinton leading the way at 16 points apiece. Clinton finished just one rebound shy of his first career double-double.
Claudell Harris Jr. finished just one rebound shy of a double-double as well, recording 10 points and nine boards.
A.J. Hamrick was the lone Buc with a double-double, the first one in his early career. The freshman center finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Sean Price may have had the best line of the night, finishing with eight points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
Â
For Bob Jones, it was few and far between in the scoring column, with Henry Blair being the lone bright spot as he finished with a team-high 21 points. Devin Dean was the only other Bruin in double-figures with 13.
