BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Charleston Southern hit a season-high 13 shots from three-point range and had four players in double figures but Gardner-Webb hit six of their final eight shots to pull away for an 80-71 win Monday afternoon in Big South men's basketball action.
Gardner-Webb (6-9, 5-5 Big South) used a 14-2 run at the end of the first half then hit key buckets deterring Charleston Southern's (1-13, 0-10 Big South) comeback bid over the final few moments.
Jaheam Cornwall scored a game-high 21 for the Runnin' Bulldogs hitting five shots from downtown while D'Maurian Williams added 18 and Jacob Falko had 13 on the day. Gardner-Webb shot over .500 from the floor once again thanks to 13 treys and 32 points in the paint.
Ja'Quavian Florence had 18 to lead CSU hitting six of his seven shots from two-point range while
Emorie Knox hit a quartet of three-point shots for 12 points.
Melvin Edwards Jr. finished just three rebounds shy of his first double-double scoring 11 points and grabbing seven boards while
Sean Price finished with 10 points and hit four of his five field goals.
Phlandrous Fleming Jr. dished out five assists and had seven rebounds despite being held to eight points while Jamain Mann had 10 rebounds for the home Runnin' Bulldogs.
