CHARLESTON, S.C. -  The Charleston Southern softball team will begin its' 2020 campaign this Friday as they head to Orlando, Florida to participate in the D9 Citrus Blossom tournament. 
 
 
 
  











LEHIGH 
The Mountain Hawks were picked second out of the seven teams in the Patriot League preseason poll for the second year in a row. Senior Mary-Hannah Smith   was named the league's Preseason Player of the Year and was joined on the preseason all-league team by senior Parker Boyd and sophomore Jaelynn Chesson. The teams have faced off once in history with the Hawks coming out on top. 
 
APPALACHIAN STATE
The Appalachian State Mountaineers enter the weekend with a 2-2 records with wins over UVA and UNC Charlotte. The team will look to the offensive firepower of Baylee Morton who has already tallied three home runs and seven RBIs in four contests. The Mountaineers hold a 4-0 overall record over the Bucs, with their last win coming in 2006.
 
GEORGIA SOUTHERN
The Georgia Southern Eagles enter the weekend at 4-1 with a pair of run-rule victories over Hartford and Rutgers. Their latest win comes against the Mercer Bears where freshman, Mekhia Freeman hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk the Eagles off to their fourth win on the year.
 
SAINT JOSEPH'S
The Hawks have yet to play a game in the 2020 campaign and will open against Georgia Southern in the first game of the tournament. The Bucs have only faced off against Saint Joseph's once in school history and suffered a 3-1 loss in 2009.
