RADFORD, Va. – Radford made 14 three-pointers and broke open a tie game with a 19-0 run midway through the second half to pull away from Charleston Southern for an 80-73 win at the Dedmon Center on Wednesday.

YaYa Anderson tallied 23 points and buried five threes to pace Radford (9-7, 2-2 Big South) as it snapped a four-game home losing streak to CSU (5-10, 1-3 Big South). Rashun Davis added 20 points and nine assists and orchestrated a Highlanders attack that assisted 20 of its 31 field goals.
CSU led by seven in the first half and was tied at halftime despite the fact that Radford hit ten threes. The Bucs tied the game at 55-55 with 12:34 remaining on a Rae Robinson trey, but did not score again for the ensuing 6:28 as the Highlanders took control.
Robinson tallied 15 points to lead CSU. Aaron Wheeler chipped in 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots. Demetrius Pollard posted 12 points for his fourth straight double figure scoring effort.
"I thought their physicality took over and they really wore us down late," CSU head coach Barclay Radebaugh said afterward. "They wrestled away some rebounds and loose balls and the 20 or so fast break points off turnovers were really the difference in the game."
Six different players scored during Radford's decisive run. Ed Polite, Jr. began the sequence with an offensive put back. Cam Jones delivered a highlight reel alley-oop dunk and Caleb Tanner swished one of his four threes as the Radford lead swelled to 11. Another deep three by Tanner pushed the Highlanders' cushion to 15 at the 8:00 mark. Davis capped the surge with a steal and layup in transition.
Radford enjoyed a lead of 19 three more times after that before CSU ran off the game's final 12 markers to account for the final margin.
The teams combined to make 26 threes – 18 in the first half – in a frantically played game that featured just five fouls in the entire second half and 19 total.
CSU went on a 12-3 run to take a 15-9 lead with 13:27 remaining in the open half. Threes by Robinson and Pollard, and an Ugo Mmonu lay in off a steal and feed from Patrick Wallace, spurred that spurt.
Danny Upchurch and Wallace sailed home long threes just 21 seconds apart to give the Bucs their biggest edge, 21-14, with 10:59 left until intermission. Robinson connected on two more threes later in the stanza to tie the game and give CSU a one-point lead. Davis and Pollard traded baskets inside the final minute to send the game into halftime knotted at 41 apiece.
Wednesday's game was the only regular season matchup between CSU and Radford. CSU returns home on Saturday to play UNC Asheville. Tipoff at the Buc Dome is tabbed for 5:30 p.m.
