CHARLESTON, S.C. - Megan Lombard clubbed her first home run of the year and matched teammate Jana Matthews for the Charleston Southern career record in the process, as the Bucs overcame an early deficit to hammer Ohio, 8-1, at Buccaneer Field on Monday afternoon.

With CSU (13-13) trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Lombard stepped into the batter's box with a man on against Ohio's (9-12) Kaylin Clarke. The Bucs' senior shortstop jumped all over a Clarke offering, drilling it deep over the left field fence for the 21st round-tripper of her illustrious career and a 2-1 CSU lead.

That would be enough production for Morgan Dowdy (9-6), who spun another beauty in the circle. Dowdy authored her 11th complete game of the campaign, yielding just the one run on five hits and a walk, while fanning one.

The Bucs offense poured it on Clarke and Bobcat relievers Lauren McClary and Caitlin Colvin in the bottom of the sixth, striking for six runs on four hits and one error. Ari Tedesco scored the first run of the frame on a wild pitch, before Melissa Adams scalded a RBI single off the glove of Ohio first-baseman Raven King for a 4-1 CSU lead. An errant throw enabled Hannah Wagner to score as well, upping the Bucs cushion to 5-1.

Lombard made sure the Bucs were not done yet, as she laced a RBI double to left field for a 6-1 advantage. Courtney Konyk then provided the capper a batter later, singling through the right side of the infield to drive in two more runs for the final 8-1 margin.

Lombard finished the day 2-for-4 with 3 RBI and two runs scored, while Konyk and Adams tacked on two and one RBI, respectively.

CSU has one last out-of-conference tune-up on tap before beginning Big South play at Winthrop on Saturday. Savannah State of the MEAC will be the Bucs' opponent on Wednesday, as the Bucs and Lady Tigers get together for a 2 p.m. first pitch.
