CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston Southern men's basketball team used a 17-8 game-ending run to defeat Presbyterian, 65-58, at Buccaneer Fieldhouse on Thursday night.

Kelvin Martin tallied 15 points and nine rebounds to lead the way for the Bucs, as the senior moved into fifth place on the Big South's all-time rebounding list. Junior guard Jeremy Sexton chipped in 13 for CSU (11-7, 5-3) and helped ice the game by going a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line.

CSU shot only 33 percent from the field (8-of-24) in the second half but was able to get to the charity stripe consistently, converting 16-of-23 opportunities.

Al'Lonzo Coleman posted all 15 of his points after halftime to pace the Blue Hose (8-9, 2-5). Coleman was the only player to reach double figures for PC, though, as 23 turnovers disrupted an otherwise efficient offensive performance (23-of-44 shooting for 52 percent).

Presbyterian's Jay Reynolds swished a pair of free throws to allow for a 50-48 lead with 6:11 remaining but that was the final advantage the Blue Hose enjoyed. Arlon Harper rebounded a miss for the Bucs on the very next possession and Martin reaped the benefit by driving to the bucket for one of his three conventional 3-point plays.

Martin was at it again the next time down the floor, intercepting a pass and racing the other way for a layup. Khalid Mutakabbir then missed a jumper for PC, allowing Martin to snare a carom and lead Saah Nimley out on the fast break for a floater in the lane. The 6-0 spurt staked CSU to a 55-50 cushion at the 4:23 mark and proved too much for PC to overcome.

The Blue Hose drew as close as two in the closing minutes but the Bucs cashed in on 8-of-11 at the line to seal its eighth home win in nine games at the Buc Dome this year.

Spurred by Martin, CSU entered intermission with a 33-25 cushion after a first half which featured three ties and six lead changes. Nimley and Mathiang Muo helped build an 11-point lead 52 seconds in front of the break by drilling back-to-back treys. PC's Ryan Deihl sailed home a triple for the final basket of the opening stanza, though, and the Blue Hose compiled a 13-3 run into the second half to bring the score to 36-35 and make the Bucs sweat until the finish.

Nimley finished with 10 points and three assists for CSU and freshman Cedrick Bowen also provided a lift out of the post, recording 10 markers to go along with five rebounds.

CSU enjoys a week respite from game action before heading to Big South leader UNC Asheville for a 7 p.m. tipoff on Thursday, January 19.
