Postgame Quotes vs. Winthrop

Box Score

CHARLESTON, S.C. - CSU Head Coach Barclay Radebaugh talks about the Buccaneers' 69-60 win over Big South rival Winthrop.

General thoughts on playing Winthrop…

"First, I'd like to give credit to Winthrop because I thought they played very, very hard as they always do. They came in here with a great defensive plan and executed it. They kept us off balance, and I thought Winthrop played very, very well. I thought defensively, we were terrific. Offensively, it left us with some things to work on. I look forward to us playing a little bit better than we played today. But it's a gut-out win, and we're thankful for it."

On the team's numerous successful trips to the free-throw line…

"Our guys just make free-throws. They're tremendous free-throw shooters, and we're one of the top free-throw shooting teams in the country. We shoot around 75 percent. Both of our guards that handle the ball late in the game, Jamarco (Warren) and Sheldon (Strickland), both shoot over 85 percent from the free-throw line. I was teasing Jamarco that he only went 13-for-14, so his percentage might have gone down a little bit - probably not though. When its' late in the game, we can make free-throws. We're tough late in the game."

On the out-rebounding the Eagles…

"Kelvin (Martin) is just a warrior. We felt that out size wouldn't be a factor because of Kelvin. Kenny and Troy box out well, and Johathan has live legs and really helps us on the boards. We feel like we're a good rebounding team. We work on it every day, though, because of our size. We work on it a lot.

On having four straight road games coming up …

"They've answered the bell - every time. We haven't won every game, obviously; but they've answered. They'll play well on the road. We'll get rested up. Gardner-Webb is a really good team, and we respect them. We'll take them one at a time, but I'm looking forward to going on the road with this team."
