CLINTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern struggled to shoot on the road for the second consecutive game, dropping a 58-51 contest vs. the Presbyterian Blue Hose Saturday, at the Templeton Center. The Bucs shot just 37.5% from the floor as a team and 44% from the line, including missed one-and-one opportunities late in the game. CSU dropped to 10-11 on the season and 5-6 in the Big South, while PC improved to 4-19 overall with a 2-9 mark in the conference.

Kenny Mitchell had one of the best games of his young career, posting a team best 13 points on 6-10 shooting, to go along with seven rebounds. Kelvin Martin recorded a double-double, with 11 points and 12 boards, while Jamarco Warren also contributed 11 points. Travis Smith carried the load for the Blue Hose, leading all scorers with 22 points on 6-8 shooting.

The Bucs put the first points on the board in the opening possession, with a Mitchell finish at the rim. PC responded with six unanswered however, to take a 6-2 advantage that they would never surrender. A Warren layup brought the score to 10-8, with the Blue Hose still on top at the 10:03 mark.

From there PC put together another 6-0 burst, to go up 16-8 with 7:22 on the clock. The Blue Hose led by as many as nine in the first half, while CSU could only get as close as five. A Sexton jumper at the end of the half brought the score to 32-25 at the intermission.

The Bucs again scored first to start the second frame, but PC came back with their biggest lead, going up 44-31 at the 15:36 mark. CSU couldn't get much going on offense, but a 7-0 run had them back in the game, capped off by a Mitchell dunk. The Blue Hose responded with baskets from Smith and Jake Troyli to extend the lead back to double-digits, mid-way through the half.

The Bucs managed to string together some defensive stops, allowing for another 8-0 run, that made the score 51-48 with 4:45 remaining in the game. After trading baskets, the PC advantage stayed at three with 2:01 left to play, thanks to Sexton's lone three of the game.

The CSU miscues started to pile up in the final minutes however, as they failed to convert on multiple one-and-one opportunities and allowed a pair of offensive rebounds. The Blue Hose managed to hit some pressure free throws down the stretch, holding on to the win with a final 58-51 score.

CSU will be back at home next week, starting with a game vs. UNC Asheville on Thursday, February 4, at 7:30 p.m.
