Katherine Thompson

Katherine Thompson began at Charleston Southern in July of 2024 as the Business Operations Assistant. Thompson joined the Buccaneers after graduating from Erskine College as a four-year member of the track & field and cross country programs.

Since arriving in the Charleston Southern Athletic Department, she has been a key member of the Buccaneers daily operations. One of the more unique ways she has gone the extra mile in her role has beeen through the addition the "Tuesday Tipline" for the department's staff members to assist them in their functionality of business operations in their day-to-day to make the process as smooth as possible for everyone involved.

In her role with CSU, she assists in many crucial areas of the athletic department’s functions. During the week in the office, she submits purchase requisitions, invoice payments, camp contract paperwork and courtesy car paperwork. Additionally, she assists coaches with Concur inputs, the school’s financial management software.

While with the Flying Fleet, she served as a team captain during her senior year as well as helped with the team’s operations. This included managing meal planning, equipment tracking, scheduling team events and coordinating recruit communication and campus visits. She received the 2024 Erskine College Athlete of the Year Award and the 2022 Erskine College Karen G. Bell Memorial Award while she was a student.

Additionally, she worked as a supplemental instructor in the academic support offices during her last three years of college. She has also spent summers working with Amazing Athletes and Celanese Emulsions.

Thompson graduated from Erskine College in May of 2024 with her Bachelor’s of Arts in English with a minor in Business. She is originally from Woodruff, South Carolina.
