Lauren Johnson

Charleston Southern head women’s basketball coach Fred Applin announced the addition of Lauren Johnson to the Buccaneers coaching staff in the summer of 2019.

Johnson joins the Bucs by way of Augusta University where she served as the assistant coach over the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.

For her part, Johnson is excited to join the Bucs’ coaching staff as CSU looks to build off a strong season this past year after advancing to the Big South Championships semifinal round in 2018-19.

In the 2018-19 season on the Augusta bench, the Jaguars nearly doubled their win total from the previous season. Johnson spent four seasons as an assistant coach for Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C., from 2013-17. She picked up the clipboard at SWU after finishing her playing career with Warriors following the 2012-13 season.

Johnson was named to the SSAC All-Conference team, while also earning All-American and All-Region honors during her time. Her 510 points during her senior campaign are the highest single season total since the 2003 season. Johnson was also the head junior varsity coach for the Warriors for two seasons during her coaching stint.
