Brad Drake was elevated to Associate Athletic Director for Medical Service in October 2019 after serving as the Assistant Athletic Director for Medical Service and Head Athletic Trainer since June 2010. He provides the healthcare needs for football and men's and women's golf, and also acts as the insurance and drug testing coordinator.
Brad joined the CSU family in 2007 as an Associate Athletic Trainer, handling the needs of men's basketball and softball.
Brad is originally from Greenville, S.C., and is a 1996 graduate of Presbyterian College. In 1998 he earned a Master of Arts Degree in Health and Exercise Science from Furman University. After receiving his Masters, Brad completed a summer internship with the Carolina Panthers. For the next two years he assisted the Panthers with all home football games in Charlotte. Previous to arriving at CSU, Brad was the Head Athletic Trainer at James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, SC. Brad was named the Athletic Trainer for the North team for 2006 North/South All Star Football game in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Brad is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the South Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association. He served as the Chair of the Program Committee for the SCATA Annual Symposium from 2006 to 2012.
Brad is married to the former Ms. Catherine Cheek. They have one crazy dog, Chewie and one cat, Murph. They enjoy living in Charleston and spending time with friends and family.
