Prior to CSU: Played his freshman year at Lamar University, before spending the 2015 season at Blinn Junior College, the alma mater of NFL mvp Cam Newton...Played in three games at Lamar as a freshman, totaling 168 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries...Started seven games at quarterback for Blinn last year and earned all-conference honorable mention status...Completed 61 percent of his passes for 1,086 yards and seven touchdowns...Ran 61 times for 397 yards and three more scores.

High School: Played for coach Andrew Washington at Beaumont Central High School...Named all-district as a high school senior...Also played soccer, basketball and track at Beaumont Central.

Personal: Son of Tony and Robert Mitchell...Was in National Honor Society as a high school student.
