Shuler Bentley arrived at Charleston Southern in the spring 2023 to serve as the team's quarterbacks coach. Bentley is originally from the Upstate of South Carolina and became known as one of the premier high school players in the history of South Carolina high school football. The 2024 season will mark his 6th year within the collegiate coaching ranks as well as second season with the Buccanneers.Â
Bentley's time at CSU marks the third stop of his career as he has also worked at Coastal Carolina (2021-22) as an offensive analyst and with the quarterbacks as well as at Troy University (2019-20) as an offensive graduate assistant primarily with the quarterbacks. While with the Chanticleers he helped the team advance to the Cure Bowl in 2021 and Birmingham Bowl in 2022.
During his playing career he spent his first three years at Old Dominion University and then transferred to Murray State University to finish his playing career. While with the Monarchs, he was a member of the team that qualified for the Bahamas Bowl in 2016.Â
Bentley is originally from Duncan, South Carolina and graduated from Byrnes High School.Â
Shuler is married to the now, Jessica Bentley. The couple have a daughter, Alexis, who was born in October of 2024.
