2014: Was a solid piece of CSU''s bullpen as a freshman, going 2-0 with a 2.37 ERA while striking out 19 in 19 innings...Also played middle infield, batting .145 with two doubles and six RBI in 55 at-bats...Went 2-for-4 with a double and drove in three runs in a 7-1 win over USC Upstate (3/11)...Struck out six in 2.2 innings of shutout relief in a loss at Savannah State (4/2)...Recorded the win at Wofford (4/30) thanks to an inning of shutout work...Registered another victory against Winthrop (5/9), allowing two runs in two innings while fanning two.

High School: Hartsell comes to Charleston Southern from Easley High School where he played for head coach Roger Finley...Hartsell was a .400 hitter and an All-Region selection as a senior...As a junior, Hartsell led the Green Wave to an appearance in a District championship game in the very competitive Upper State South Carolina baseball playoffs...He played his summer baseball for the Blue Chip Bulls, a competitive travel organization based out of the South Carolina upstate...In his time with the Bulls, Hartsell garnered attention on the national stage earning 2011 and 2012 Underclass All-American Honorable Mention by Perfect Game...The organization also rated him as a High Follow Prospect nationally.
