LEXINGTON, S.C. – On Friday, Charleston Southern secured a strong Big South semi-final round victory, defeating the No. 3-seeded UNC Asheville Bulldogs, 4-1.
The Buccaneers set the tone early by capturing the doubles point, winning on courts one and two to take a 1-0 lead into singles play. From there, CSU carried that momentum into the individual matches as Brenda Yoris, Carle Botha, and Carlota Farres Carreter picked up straight-set victories to clinch the match.
The Bucs earned their wins across the middle of the lineup to seal the decision – showing depth and consistency throughout, controlling rallies and limiting opportunities for the Bulldogs to mount a comeback.
The win improves Charleston Southern to 10-8 overall on the season, and securing their spot in the conference championship final tomorrow morning, April 18th at 11:00 AM against the No. 4-seeded NJIT Highlanders – the league's new addition this season.
