BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Charleston Southern women's basketball team fell 56-44 on the road at Gardner-Webb on Wednesday night despite a 24-point, 12-rebound performance from Tyonna Bailey. The double-double marked Bailey's second straight and fourth of the season.

The Buccaneers trailed by just three at halftime before Gardner-Webb used a decisive third quarter and points off turnovers to create separation. CSU shot 30.2 percent from the field and committed 22 turnovers, which the Runnin' Bulldogs converted into 27 points.

Charleston Southern stayed within striking distance early, shooting 33.3 percent in the opening frame and knocking down two three-pointers. Bailey scored 12 first-quarter points, but Gardner-Webb held a narrow 16-14 edge after 10 minutes. The Buccaneers kept pace in the second period, limiting Gardner-Webb to 31.3 percent shooting. Bailey reached 17 points before halftime, and CSU went into the break trailing just 28-25.

The turning point came in the third. CSU shot just 2-of-15 (13.3 percent) from the field in the period, scoring only five points. Gardner-Webb capitalized, outscoring the Buccaneers 10–5 to extend its lead to 38-30 entering the fourth. Turnovers proved costly during the stretch, as the Runnin' Bulldogs created transition opportunities and controlled tempo. Gardner-Webb closed the game by scoring 18 fourth-quarter points and pushing the margin to as many as 15. Charleston Southern added 14 in the final frame but could not overcome the third-quarter drought. Bailey continued to attack the glass late, securing her 12th rebound to seal the double-double.
