CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern dropped their midweek contest at The Citadel on Tuesday by a final score of 3-1.
The Bulldogs were the first to get on the board by scoring on a sacrifice bunt. The lead did not last for long as
Kaden Smith had a solo home run over the fence in left field to bring it level at 1-1 in the top of the fourth.
In the bottom of the fourth, The Citadel got their go-ahead run off a balk with runners on second and third. They got an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single up the middle.
Smith led the team with two hits on the day and had the lone run scored and RBI on the day. As a team they had seven hits and had two walks on the day.
On the mound, they had five pitchers that were used and
Parks Ledwell had the start and threw a shutout for the first 2.0.
Camden Chalfant tossed the next 2.0 frames.
Hayden Henry threw a scoreless 1.0,
Christian Krause had 1.1 of work allowing one run and
Ryan DuSang tossed the final 1.2 allowing just a pair of hits.
Charleston Southern will be back in action this weekend with a road series at Presbyterian. They begin the weekend on Friday evening with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. in Clinton,
