Collins then had a bunt single and Edgmon was hit by the first pitch he saw to load the bases. Sanguedolce came to the plate and with the count at 1-1 smashed a single up the middle to score two. During
Kaden Smith's at bat, a balk was called, allowing each runner to move up a bag leading to Edgmon to score and push the score to 7-2.
Timpanelli had the start for the day and threw the first 5.0 innings. He allowed just one run off two hits and struck out six batters. He issued six walks and a hit by pitch, working out of difficult spots all evening to maintain a clean slate. Krause was the only reliever used, tossing the final 4.0 innings. He allowed a pair of hits and a run to score in the first two batters he faced, and did not allow for another Elon batter to reach base, retiring each of the final 12.
