CHARLESTON – The Buccaneers won their sixth consecutive match on Friday, defeating Belmont by sweep. The victory moves the Bucs to 10-4 on the year and 9-1 at home with the 4-0 triumph.
The doubles point went to the Bucs with them getting the decisions on courts #1 and #3.
Kassandra Di Staulo and
Marina Skegro won 6-2 in the topflight while
Jaden Davidson and
Carlé Botha wrapped up the point with their 6-2 win at #3. The result on court #2 went unfinished.
In singles, CSU claimed all the results in the first sets. Moore's match in the topflight was the first to finish as her opponent was forced to withdraw due to injury giving them their second point of the day and first from singles.
Amila Jusufbegovic's was next with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at #3. Botha clinched the team's win with a 6-3, 6-2 result on court #5.
The remaining matches went unfinished as they played it to clinch.
Kassandra Di Staulo was a game away from claiming the overall win in hers on court #4. The other matches had
Noa Boyd at #2 and
Jaden Davidson at #6. They both had strong results as well with the second sets winding down.
Charleston Southern will now enjoy a layoff for almost ten days between matches after three consecutive days of competition. They begin the return with their conference opener taking on Gardner-Webb on Sunday, March 23 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gary Clark Banks Sr. Tennis Center.
