CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern claimed their first weekend sweep of the 2025 season on Sunday afternoon, defeating Manhattan by a 15-4 final score. The game was called in the 7

The victory pushes the Buccaneers to 6-1 on the season, matching their best start to a season since the 2014 spring. This becomes just the second time in program history that they have been 6-1 or better through seven games with the other occasion being in 2014.

Lew Rice walk to load the bases. Smith brought in the go-ahead run off a walk and forced a pitching change for the Jaspers.
The new pitcher's first batter faced was
Chandler Tuupo who had a sacrifice fly to center to score another.
AJ Martin drew a walk to reload the bases and McAskie was hit by a pitch to then score the next.
Nathan Martinez belted a ball at the shortstop that was able to score a pair. A wild pitch during Edgmon's at bat moved everyone up another base and scored the 7

Manhattan was able to cut into the deficit a bit in the top off the fourth as they got the bases loaded. They got the first off a balk and then the next off a wild pitch where runners advanced on a third pitch swinging strike to bring the score to 8-4.
In the bottom of the fourth, Charleston Southern's offense put up another seven-spot, pushing their advantage to 15-4 which proved to the final score. During it, Collins, Smith and Tuupo were the ones who recorded RBIs in it with the first triple of Tuupo's career highlighting the action during the frame.
Neither offense was able to score again during the game despite getting runners on as each of teams' pitchers twirled gems down the stretch.
Parks Ledwell started the game for the squad, tossing the first 3.2. He was charged with the four runs off four hits and struck out three batters.
