Second Half Shooting Struggles lead to Panthers Victory over Bucs

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern women's basketball team took on the conference-leading High Point Panthers on Wednesday night, dropping the contest by a 68-52 score inside the Buc Dome.

Down by nine points at the break, the Buccaneers (12-15, 8-6 in conference) scored just six points in the third quarter and 19 points overall in the second half. High Point took their first double-digit lead in the second quarter with a layup to go up by 11. Their largest lead in the first half was 13 points, but the Buccaneers cut the deficit to six points with a three-point field goal from Caelan Ellis, who finished with nine points on the night.

The Panthers led by more than 11 points for the entire second half and led by as many as 20 points on two separate occasions in the third quarter. Charleston Southern shot 6/26 from beyond the arc and were 3/19 in the second half. Ellis was 3/8 from the three-point line.
