CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern women's basketball team took on the conference-leading High Point Panthers on Wednesday night, dropping the contest by a 68-52 score inside the Buc Dome.
Down by nine points at the break, the Buccaneers (12-15, 8-6 in conference) scored just six points in the third quarter and 19 points overall in the second half.
Keshunti Nichols was the lone double-figure scorer for the Buccaneers with 11 points, while
Madison Adamson pulled down a season-high 14 rebounds.
High Point took their first double-digit lead in the second quarter with a layup to go up by 11. Their largest lead in the first half was 13 points, but the Buccaneers cut the deficit to six points with a three-point field goal from
Caelan Ellis, who finished with nine points on the night.
The Panthers led by more than 11 points for the entire second half and led by as many as 20 points on two separate occasions in the third quarter. Charleston Southern shot 6/26 from beyond the arc and were 3/19 in the second half. Ellis was 3/8 from the three-point line.
The Buccaneers are back in action on Saturday, as they hit the road one more time in the regular season against the USC Upstate Spartans at 4:00 PM.
