COLUMBIA – The Men's Track and Field season continued on this weekend with the team taking part in the Gamecock Challenge.
Michael Calhoun took on the spotlight at the meet, breaking the school record that he had held for the third time this indoor season, setting a new mark at all three meets this winter.
Calhoun's new personal best helps continue to cement his legacy as one of the top throwers in the history of Charleston Southern. Today, he went 17.89m (58' 8.5") on his best throw, a full foot further than his personal best set last weekend at Clemson. This new mark is now a full meter ahead of the second-best in school history. Additionally, this moves him into solo 7
th in the history of the Big South for the event. On the day, he claimed fourth overall at the meet.
Dexter Ratliff also continued to show out in the weight throw for the Buccaneers. He claimed the top throw in the event for the first victory of his time with Charleston Southern with a best heave of 17.98m (59' 0"). Despite this being his shortest throw at a meet this year, it would still be one of the top marks in school history. Ratliff also threw in the shot put and had a 14.18m (46' 6.25") to claim 14
th.
Also in the throwing events were
Odin Ferency and
