CHARLESTON, S.C. – Following a hard-fought overtime season opener, the Charleston Southern women's basketball team heads downtown Friday morning for a crosstown matchup against the College of Charleston at TD Arena. Tipoff is set for 11:00 a.m.
 
Charleston Southern nearly pulled off a dramatic comeback Monday night at Jacksonville, falling 86-84 in overtime despite erasing a 20-point first-half deficit. Meanwhile, the Cougars opened their 2025–26 campaign in emphatic fashion, routing Covenant College 135-41 in their home debut.

New Season, New Energy: The Buccaneers begin the 2025-26 season following a year that saw them win the second-most conference games in program history (10). CSU was picked to finish fifth in the Big South preseason poll.
Challenging Non-Conference Slate: CSU's non-conference schedule features 13 games, including six home matchups and four Power Four opponents (Georgia Tech, Clemson, North Carolina, and Georgia). The Bucs will also host four in-state opponents, highlighted by Clemson's visit to the Buc Dome on Dec. 17.

  • College of Charleston (1-0) enters Friday's matchup fresh off a historic offensive performance, scoring a program-record 135 points in a win over Covenant College to open the season.
  • Taryn Barbot, the CAA Preseason Player of the Year, opened her junior campaign with 32 points on 14-of-17 shooting, marking her seventh career 30-point game.
  • Head Coach Robin Harmony, now in her seventh season, guided Charleston to a program-record 25 wins in 2024–25, including a Super 16 appearance in the WNIT.
  • Charleston enters the year ranked No. 23 in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 and was picked as the preseason favorite in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA).
