Varet Finishes Runner-Up at Edisto Island Invitational

EDISTO BEACH, S.C. – Charleston Southern women's golf concluded play at the Edisto Island Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, finishing without a team score after two Buccaneers were forced to withdraw following the opening round. The event was contested at The Plantation Course at Edisto on a par-71, 5,980-yard layout.

Eugenie Varet delivered a spectacular performance, earning a runner-up finish in the field of over 70 golfers. She opened with a 76 in the first round before firing an even 71 in round two and closing with a stellar 68 in the final round to post a 215 (+2). Varet's 3-under effort on the last day was one of the lowest rounds of the tournament and helped her secure second place overall.

Katie Stephens also turned in a strong showing, tying for 21st with rounds of 76, 71, and 80 for a total of 227 (+14). Her even-par round on day two helped pace the Buccaneers early in the event.

IY Ibnu finished tied for 62nd with rounds of 82, 82, and 85 to post a total of 249 (+36).

Chayse Cool and Summer Griffiths each completed two rounds before withdrawing. Cool recorded scores of 82 and 80, while Griffiths carded rounds of 85 and 81.

Despite being unable to post a full team score, Charleston Southern saw several bright individual performances, led by Varet's second-place finish — the highest individual result for a Buccaneer this fall.

The Buccaneers will return to action November 2nd at the Fripp Island Intercollegiate to close out their fall slate.
