CLEMSON – The women's time at the Orange and Purple Invitational came to a close on Friday afternoon with the Buccaneers breaking a pair or school records at the meet.
The day started with the women's 3K school record being broken.
Sarah McCartney recorded a time of 9:32.17 in the race to go into 3
rd for Big South history and take 5
th at the meet.
Keerstin Augustin had a tremendous race as well as she claimed 9
th in the race and moved into 2
nd in school history for the event.
Charleston Southern had a new school record in the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 11:44.50. The time ranks as the second in the history of the conference, just one hundredth of a second away from tying that mark set by Liberty in 2018.
Grenisha Thomas had the top time for CSU in the event as she placed in 29
th overall at the meet and had a time of 24.98.
Maeva Tahou,
Sophia Cupp and
Maddie St. Louis all went back-to-back with times of 25.62, 25.66 and 25.67 with each being either a personal best or season-best for the runners.
Charlize Antia and
Katrina Husby both competed in the 800m, and
Alayna Abrams threw 11.10m (36' 5") in the shot put to complete the Buccaneers top performers of the day.
The Bucs will return to the track next weekend as they will go to Columbia, S.C. to compete at the Gamecock Challenge on Saturday, February 1.
