COLUMBIA – The Women's Tennis season for the Charleston Southern began on Sunday afternoon against #20 South Carolina. The Buccaneers fell by a final score of 5-0 to the nationally ranked Gamecocks.
The hosts got out to an early lead by claiming the doubles point off a pair of 6-1 wins on courts #1 and #3. The match on #2 went unfinished with the South Carolina duo leading 4-2.
In singles, the Gamecocks fielded a pair of top 40 singles players and showcased their top-level talent. South Carolina claimed straight set wins on courts #6, #1, #5 and #4.
Emmie Moore's match on court #2 went unfinished with her dropping the first set 7-5 and leading 3-0 when the match was called.
Charleston Southern will be back in action for the home opener on Thursday, January 23 against Lander at 1:00 p.m.
