HIGH POINT, N.C. – Charleston Southern women's track took second place at the Big South Outdoor Championships, the best finish since 2021, with 231 total points scored. The meet concluded on Wednesday evening at Vert Stadium on the campus of High Point University. At the meet's conclusion,
Chloe Greene was named Most Valuable Athlete for scoring the most points of any individual.
Greene stayed busy on Wednesday competing in four different events. She was fourth in the 100m hurdles with a personal best time of 13.95 and was fourth in the 400m hurdles (1:02.17) as well. In the field, Greene took bronze in the high jump (1.60m) and fourth in the javelin (42.14m).
Greene was the third Buccaneer across the line in the 100 meter hurdles as
Austyn Koppe led the way finishing second with a time of 13.66 with
Jewel Ash in third at 13.68. Ash was also second in the 400 meter hurdles crossing the line at 1:00.47 with
Brenda du Toit in third at 1:02.17.
The Bucs won both relays on Wednesday.
Amaya Johnson,
Grenisha Thomas,
Destiny Wallace, and
Dylann Core won the 4x100 relay in 45.51. Johnson and Wallace were later joined by
Maddie St. Louis and
Jewel Ash to win the 4x400 relay in 3:40.68.
Johnson and Wallace each collected two medals on Wednesday. Johnson won the 400m with a time of 53.39, just ahead of St. Louis in third at 55.87, and was third in the 200m at 24.41 behind Wallace's second place time of 24.35. Wallace also won the 100m in 11.91 with Thomas taking second at 11.94.
In the field,
Zemaya Carson finished second in the discus with a best mark measuring 48.04.
Alaina Nettles also scored in the high jump behind Greene in seventh after clearing the bar at 1.55m.
Anna Akagi scored twice in the distance events starting with a second-place finish in the 1500 (4:30.37).
Freya Buglass was fourth in this event (4:33.95) and the 800 (2:12.66) while Akagi was fifth (2:12.90).
Keerstin Augustin led the Bucs in the 5K finishing sixth (17:29.81) while
Kallie Henderson took eighth (17:34.83)
