Buccaneers Defeat Runnin' Bulldogs on the Road to Cap Off Regular Season

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Charleston Southern closed out their regular season with a Big South victory at Gardner-Webb on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 5-2.
 
The Buccaneers started the day by getting the doubles point with Marina Skegro and Kassandra Di Staulo winning by a score of 6-4 on court #3. The opening point was clinched in the topflight by Noa Boyd and Amila Jusufbegovic with them going to a tiebreaker at 7-6.
 
Gardner-Webb was able to draw the match even at two apiece in singles play with victories on courts #2 and #5 with each coming in straight sets. Jessica Braun got the first point in singles for the Bucs with her win in the #1 position by a 7-6, 6-3 final score.

Each of the other remaining matches, Charleston Southern was victorious in with each needing a third set to determine a victor. Boyd overcame a loss in the first set to win hers 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 on court #3. Skegro and Di Staulo each fell in the second set with them winning on court #4 and #6. The final score for Skegro's match was 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 while Di Staulo's was 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.
 
Charleston Southern finishes the regular season with a record of 11-6 to go along with a Big South record of 4-1. They had a home record of 9-2 this season, one of the best marks in program history at the Gary Clark Banks Sr. Tennis Center. Following the conclusion of the regular season tomorrow afternoon, the Bucs will find out their official opponent for the Big South Tournament Semifinals which will be contested on Friday, April 19 in Charlotte at Marion Diehl Park. The Buccaneers will be vying for their fourth consecutive Big South Tournament Championship during the weekend to continue their streak of bids to the NCAA Tournament.
