COLUMBIA, S.C. – Charleston Southern finished off day one at the Weems Baskin Invitational on Friday with the team having throwers and distance runners compete in it.
The Buccaneers had four athletes compete in the 1500 on Friday with this being the "invite" portion of the event, with the fastest seed times of the entrees running in it.
Jack McGahey won the event with a time of 3:53.83.
Mason Raasch and
Connor Smith also broke four minutes with times of 3:56.92 and 3:58.26.
Christian Mariner competed in the 5000 invite at the meet, being the lone Buccaneer in the race. He finished with a time of 15:22.16 to take seventh overall. His time marked a new personal best for him in the distance.
The last action that the team saw on Friday was in the javelin throw which had
Aaron Pierce and
Landry Polk featured in it. Pierce finished third overall in the event with his best heave going 56.72m while Polk took 10
th with a 49.64m.
Charleston Southern returns to the Soda City tomorrow to finish the action at the Weems Baskin Invitational.
