CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern picked up another home win on Saturday as they defeated Murray State by a final score of 5-2 on Saturday afternoon.
The Buccaneers took the doubles point in the match by getting the decisions on courts #1 and #3.
Noa Boyd paired with
Jessica Braun on the topflight and won it by a 6-4 score. The point was clinched by
Kassandra Di Staulo and
Marina Skegro with them getting it by a 6-4 final on court #3.
In singles, Charleston Southern got out quickly in singles picking up a pair of straight set victories in the middle courts. Boyd claimed hers by a 6-4, 6-3 final on court #3 and was followed by Skegro's 6-3, 7-5 decision on court #4.
The Racers then responded by overcoming first set losses on courts #1 and #6 to move the overall match score to 3-2 with two matches remaining.
Brenda Yoris provided the match clinch with her victory on court #5. She won 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 to get the fourth point for CSU.
Jessica Braun closed out the day by winning in three sets on court #2 with it ending 6-4, 5-7, 6-1.
Charleston Southern will now enjoy a week break from an official match as they prepare for their conference openers next weekend. They play host to Radford (3/22) and UNC Asheville (3/23) next weekend with the first serve for both slated for 1:00 p.m.
