CHARLESTON – Charleston Southern football continues to reel in conference weekly honors this season.
Tyson Greenwade earned the Big South/Ohio Valley Football Association Freshman of the Week on Monday for the first time in his career.
Greenwade burst on the scene this year in his redshirt freshman season serving as the Bucs' secondary running back. This past Saturday against Western Illinois, he had the best game of his career thus far.
He finished the game with 102 yards off just 12 carries to average 8.5 yards per rush, eclipsing 100 for the first time in his career. Greenwade was the second CSU player on the day that finished with 100 or more on the day. His longest career of the day went for 54 yards, spinning off Leathernecks defenders to break loose for the long scamper. The run was part of an 11 play, 92-yard touchdown drive in the second quarter that led to the first score of the day for the Bucs.
Greenwade becomes the fourth Buccaneer to win a weekly award this season. Steve Zayachowsky and
Tylan Hollis have each won a Defensive Player of the Week award and
Gilbert Brown won a Special Teams Player of the Week award.
Charleston Southern returns to action this weekend for a road game at Lindenwood. The kickoff is slated for 2:00 p.m. EST from St. Charles, Missouri.
