Baseball Announces 2024 Schedule

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Head Coach Marc MacMillan and Charleston Southern Baseball announced their 2024 schedule on Monday afternoon with the schedule featuring 31 home contests over the season.

The season opener for the Bucs will be held on February 16 with Delaware State coming to the state of South Carolina for a three-game weekend series. The last time the teams matched up was in 2022 and the Bucs had a four-game sweep over them. Other home nonconference weekend series for the Bucs include Lehigh (2/23-25), Rutgers (3/1-3) and Creighton (3/29-30). In the series against the Blue Jays, Saturday will feature a doubleheader with game one's first pitch slated for 2:00 p.m.

The schedule features seven total matchups between the team's crosstown rivals of College of Charleston and The Citadel on various Tuesdays throughout the year. The home dates for The Citadel games are February 20 and May 14 while the Bucs will go on the road to face them on February 27 and March 26. Charleston Southern hosts CofC on April 9 and will make the short drive on March 12 and April 16 when the Cougars welcome the Bucs to Patriot Point.

Charleston Southern will hit the road once for a nonconference weekend with it being at Samford from March 8-10. During the week, CSU will host Penn, last year's Ivy League champs, for two games on March 5 and 6 as well as Wofford (4/2), a team that nearly won the SoCon to advance to the NCAA Tournament in 2023.

Also, during those nonconference weekday matchups, they will play a home-and-home with UNC Wilmington, on the road on April 23 and host UNCW on May 7. The other out-of-league matchup is at Campbell on March 19 in their first year outside of the Big South.

This year's Big South Conference schedule will feature nine teams playing 24 games each, competing for a top-four spot in the league standings to advance to the 2024 Big South Championship. League action begins for CSU with a homestand against High Point from March 15-17. Nielsen Field will bring in Gardner-Webb (4/12-14), Presbyterian (5/3-5) and Radford (5/10-12) this year. The Buccaneers travel to UNC Asheville (3/22-24), Longwood (4/5-7), USC Upstate (4/19-21) and Winthrop (5/16-18) for their remaining conference action.

The Big South Tournament will be held at Truist Point in High Point, N.C. for the third consecutive year. This year's conference race will be closely monitored with the league being wide open due to Campbell's departure from the league. The Camels had won every Regular Season title from 2018-2023 and all but one of the Tournament Championships during that span as well.

The official first practice for the Buccaneers is slated for Friday, January 26. Continue to check csusports.com and the program's social media channels for the latest news related to the Charleston Southern baseball team.
