CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern women's tennis team had a strong overall showing in its own tournament, the Charleston Southern Invitational, Saturday at the on-campus Gary Clark Banks Sr. Tennis Center.
PERFECT ON THE DAY
The Bucs took full advantage of the play of the newcomers, as
Anastasia Astakhova and
Jessica Braun saw a perfect event on the court in singles play as each enjoyed wins over College of Charleston, Coastal Carolina and Furman.
Noa Boyd flipped the script on doubles play, collecting three wins in as many matches, two with
Amila Jusufbegovic and the other with Braun.
SINGLES OVER COASTAL AND COFC
In singles, the Buccaneers collected a clean sweep of Lowcountry rivals College of Charleston as well as a 4-2 win over Coastal Carolina to move their singles record to 2-1 across the event. Jusufbegovic, Astakhova, Braun and Skegro all collected victories in the Coastal match, while Boyd and Yoris added wins to that group in the CofC match.

DOUBLES OVER THE COAST
The momentum continued into two doubles contests against Coastal as Boyd and Jusufbegovic started off strong at the first doubles flight. Astakhova and Braun followed suit at the second doubles flight to clinch the team victory, standing as the lone doubles win for the Bucs in the event.
ADDITIONAL MATCHES
Kassandra Di Staulo and
Khyanna Singh took full advantage of their tennis as well, as Di Staulo earned a win over College of Charleston in singles and Singh added one as well in that match.
UP NEXT
