Bucs Open 2023 Fall Camp

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern football opened its 2023 Fall Camp Monday night under first-year head coach Gabe Giardina as the Buccaneers officially began preparations for the upcoming season in the Giardina Era.

With less than one month until the first kickoff at Buccaneer Field for 2023, the Bucs are more than eager to step on the field to set the tone for their season and prove naysayers wrong. After being picked ninth out of ten teams in the Big South/OVC preseason poll, the Buccaneers plan to use this as motivation to dominate each week this season.

The players have been dedicated to developing as a unit this off-season. Through spring practice, summer workouts, and now fall camp, the team has continued to grow tremendously. They expect their intense work ethic and dedication to the details to show up between the white lines. Brandon Gilbert, Charleston Southern's Director of Strength & Conditioning, added, "the guys have been planting seed all off-season and have no choice but to reap what they have sown."

On the first day of preseason camp, Head Coach Gabe Giardina was beyond excited. "The first day of practice is always my favorite day of the year a lot of excitement and a lot of enthusiasm. It feels like Christmas day," said Giardina.

The Bucs are a team with a lot to prove. Coach Giardina believes that now is the time to "prove they can be one family, overcome adversity, and prove the team can win."

Charleston Southern opens its 2023 schedule on Thursday, Aug. 31 vs North Greenville University. Kickoff is set for 6:00 pm ET in North Charleston (ESPN+).
