CONWAY, S.C. - The Charleston Southern women's tennis team picked up its first road win on Tuesday with a monumental 5-2 win over the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.

This win marks the first time that Charleston Southern (2-3) has won against Coastal Carolina (0-2) since 2015 and snaps a three-match losing streak against the Chanticleers. 

Coastal Carolina won the doubles round to start off the afternoon with a 1-0 lead. Luiza Fullana and Khyanna Singh were the only duo to win their match for the Buccaneers. They would do so with a 6-2 victory.

In the singles match, the Bucs turned things up, winning five of the six matches, three of which were sweeps. Fullana won her match 6-0 and 7-5, Marina Skegro won her match 7-6 and 6-4 and Singh won her match 6-2 and 6-4. 

Court no. 3 was an intense battle between Amila Jusufbegovic and Kata Foldeak of Coastal Carolina. Jusufbegovic took the convincing 6-0 win in round one, while Foldeak evened things with a 6-3 win, but Jusufbegovic took the win in round three 6-2. 

Next Up
The Bucs look to continue that success this weekend, as they have back-to-back home matches against Georgia Southern on Saturday and Kennesaw State on Sunday. Both matches will start at 1 p.m. and will be played at Gary Clark Banks Sr. Tennis Center.
