LAST TIME OUT
Charleston Southern took game two at The Joe after falling in the first game between the two sides at Nielsen Field. The Bucs bounced back well after a 16-3 loss, erasing a 2-0 first-frame deficit as
Hayden Harris hit a two-run bomb in the fourth. A five-run sixth proved to be the difference, though, as it gave CSU a three-run cushion.
LONG HISTORY
The two sides have clashed a total of 93 times since the first installment in 1980, with The Citadel holding a 60-33 lead in the series. More recently, Charleston Southern took game two of the three game season set with the Bulldogs 9-5. Wednesday's contest will stand as the rubber match for the season series.
WALDSCHMIDT SPARK
Ryan Waldschmidt had a strong showing this past weekend on the road at USC Upstate, hitting two solo-shots in the middle frames of the final two games for Charleston Southern. The freshman has been a mainstay in the Buccaneer lineup for his bat and his speed, a combo that has resulted in much success at the plate. Waldschmidt's .538 on base percentage is good enough for fourth in the nation, standing as one of just two representatives of the Big South in a top-5 ranking of any individual stat nationwide.
UP NEXT
Charleston Southern will turn its focus back to the Big South side of things as it returns home for a three-game conference weekender with Gardner-Webb. The action starts Friday, April 22 with a 5:00 p.m. first pitch followed by a 2:00 p.m. start Saturday, April 23 and a 1:00 p.m. first pitch Sunday, April 24.
