Busy Weekend for Women's Tennis Gets Busier with Addition of South Carolina Sunday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Southern women's tennis' busy weekend slate just got busier, as the Bucs add South Carolina to the schedule. CSU will travel to Columbia to take on the Gamecocks on Sunday for a 3:00 p.m. start.

The Bucs were already scheduled to play Friday and Saturday, Friday being College of Charleston at home and Saturday being the start of Big South play with North Carolina A&T. Both matches are being held at the Gary Clark Banks Sr. Tennis Center. Friday's match has been moved to a 2:00 p.m. start with impending weather in the area, and Saturday's match is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start.

Saturday's match with the Aggies stands as the first conference match for Charleston Southern in the 2022 campaign, as the Bucs finished Big South play unbeaten a season ago and captured the 2021 Big South Tournament crown. The meeting stands as the opener in the series as well, with the two sides never squaring off prior to Saturday.

Charleston Southern has never beaten Lowcountry rival College of Charleston at home in 10 previous meetings. The Cougars hold the 19-1 overall series lead on CSU, with the Bucs' only win coming in the 2018-19 campaign.

South Carolina has gotten the best of the Bucs as well, leading the series at five wins and no losses. Charleston Southern has only been able to tally a single point in the five matches, as the single point came in the first meeting back in 1998. You have to go back to the 2017-18 campaign to find the last time the two sides clashed, as the Gamecocks cruised to a 4-0 result in Columbia.
