The Charleston Southern women's basketball was handed their first loss of the season on Thursday night, falling to the Duke Blue Devils 111-50 inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Jazmine Jackson and
Sha'Mya Leigh both had nine points, leading all Buccaneer scorers.
Zaire Hicks had eight points. Turnovers hindered Charleston Southern all night, as they finished with 29.
The Bucs were 8-20 from the three point line and shot 34.5% overall on the night.
Duke jumped out to an 8-0 lead to start the game, but that run ended when Hicks knocked down a three-pointer to cut the deficit to five. That was the closest that the Bucs would get to, as the Blue Devils outscored them 32-9 in the first quarter. Hicks scored six of the nine points in the quarter with two three-pointers.
The Blue Devils carried their momentum into the second quarter, outscoring the Buccaneers 30-10 in the second quarter to take a 62-19 lead into the locker rooms.
Tori Gittens knocked a three-point attempt and Kennedi Jackson scored four points.
The second half was a very similar story, as the Blue Devils increased their lead to as high as 65 in the fourth quarter before ultimately taking the 61-point win.
The Buccaneers are back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. as the Georgia Southern Eagles come to the Buc Dome.
