BUC NOTES AND STORYLINES
• The Bucs travel across the state line for the first time in 2021 when they head to Greenville, North Carolina, for a Saturday evening contest at ECU, alma mater of director of athletics Jeff Barber.
• The Pirates are the first of two FBS opponents, along with Georgia, on this year's Charleston Southern docket.
• The last time the Buccaneers played two FBS foes in the same season was 2017 when they played at Mississippi State (Sept. 2) and at Indiana (Oct. 7).
• Since starting the program in 1991, the only other seasons in which two FBS schools were on the calendar included 2008 (at Miami [Fla.]; at Miami [Ohio]), 2009 (at Florida; at USF), 2010 (at Hawai'i; at Kentucky), 2011 (at UCF; at Florida State); 2014 (at Vanderbilt; at Georgia) and 2015 (at Troy; at Alabama).
• Charleston Southern's season-opening three-game stretch will conclude with Saturday's contest. The squad will take next week off before stepping back into Big South play for its next six games and concluding regular-season action at Georgia.
• The Buccaneers continue to thrive in the red zone, scoring touchdowns on all three trips this season inside the 20. Both scores last week against Monmouth were rushes by quarterback Jack Chambers, from 8 and 20 yards out.
• Linebacker Garrett Sayegh put together a solid defensive effort against Monmouth, leading the team with a career-high tying 12 tackles. He previously had 12 stops in the spring campaign at Kennesaw State.
