CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Southern football squad will hit the Buccaneer Field new turf for the first time Saturday evening, as it plays host to No. 20 Monmouth with a 6 p.m. kick-off on ESPN+. The game, which is a Blue Out with the Buccaneers wearing all blue from head to toe, is the Hanahan Appreciation Day sponsored by The Wrenn Group and will also be picked up locally by WCBD (NBC News 2). CSU fans are also encouraged to wear blue (#BucsWearBlue on social) in support.

Garris Schwarting earned a pair of national awards, this week, after he put up career numbers at The Citadel in last week's opener. He became the first player in program history to earn College Football Performance Awards FCS National Offensive Performer of the Week and STATS PERFORM FCS National Offensive Player of the Week honors.
• Schwarting's big day featuring a Big South- and school-record tying four receiving touchdowns plus the first passing touchdown of his career. The five touchdowns responsible for match a program mark as he picked up Big South Offensive Player of the Week plaudits, as well.

Jack Chambers was tabbed the College Sports Madness Big South Offensive Player of the Week after his 20-of-26 showing for 293 yards and fiver touchdown passes against the Bulldogs.

Edward King led the defense with seven tackles, including four solo, while three players:
Jarrod Stanley,
Justin McIntire and
Matthew Williams each finished with six stops.
• Williams recorded an interception on the game's final play, returning it from inside the end zone to the 38-yard line.

Garrett Sayegh and
Nick Salley both pounced on loose fumbles, giving the Buccaneers a plus-3 margin in turnovers.

Sam Babbush drained a 44-yard field goal for his first points as a collegiate player.
• Saturday's win at The Citadel marked the first time the Bucs have opened a season 1-0 under head coach
Autry Denson. It was their first 1-0 start since 2013, also a triumph at The Citadel.
