BUC NOTES AND STORYLINES
• Charleston Southern picked up its first Big South win of the campaign Saturday, as it knocked off Hampton 35-5 during the annual Homecoming game at Buccaneer Field.
• The defense held the Pirates to three points, with the other oming via a fourth-quarter safety.
• The five total points is the fewest an opponent has scored during head coach Autry Denson's tenure (2019-present).
• The Bucs received another strong performance by quarterback Jack Chambers. He finished 25-of-43 for 357 yards and a career-best tying four touchdowns.
• It's his second contest, this fall, with four passing touchdowns, matching his effort in the season opener at The Citadel, Sept. 11, and from a 2019 matchup against Campbell Nov. 23.
• His four passing touchdowns went to four different receivers -- Demetrius Jones, Garris Schwarting, Kale Anderson and Ja'Rell Smith.
• Another wideout, Cayden Jordan, hauled in six passes for 152 yards -- including 43 and 39 yards -- on consecutive plays of a 98-yard drive.
• Running back Roderick Hawkins made a splash in his Bucs debut, carrying the ball 12 times for 50 yards and a touchdown.
• Garrett Sayegh compiled a career-high 16 tackles, the most for any player under Denson.
• It marks his second-straight double-figure tackles performance and the third overall, this fall.
• Jerome Rice III joined him with double-digit stops, collecting a career-high 10 of his own to help the defensive corps limit Hampton to only 189 yards through three quarters.
