Bucs head to Conway for clash with old rival Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, S.C. – Charleston Southern women's tennis hits the road for the first and only time in the month of February as they head north to Conway for a clash with longtime and former Big South rival Coastal Carolina.

Saturday's match will be the 35th all-time meeting between the Buccaneers and Chanticleers in a series that dates back to the 1981 season. Of those 34 previous meetings, only 21 came as conference foes during Coastal Carolina's tenure in the Big South Conference and Saturday comes as the first matchup since the 2016 season – the Chanticleers' final season as a member.

CSU comes off a 1-2 week against rival College of Charleston in the CAA and Conference-USA power Charlotte while defeating South Carolina State in the finale.

Charleston Southern took a 5-1 decision in the 2015 season, the last time the Bucs and Chanticleers met in Conway sweeping all three doubles matches and then winning five of the six singles courts. That win in 2015 gives CSU a 7-3 mark in their last 10 games against rival Coastal Carolina dating back to the 2009 season.

First serve between the Bucs and Chanticleers is set for 12 p.m. from the Stevens Tennis Complex.
